I attended as both a vendor and seminar instructor. I thought it was well organized, and Barry was great (especially with the vendors).

My only complaint was the Masquerade Ball, I really don't feel it was worth the $40 ticket price. The food was consumed quickly and not really replenished (and for $40 there should have been more than little snacks), and the bar was incredibly overpriced ($2.25 for a half-can of pop?). I think the room was too small and it felt like the A/C was not on. Also, the DJ tended to play cheesy bad wedding reception styles tunes 9Celebration, Jump On it, etc). I loved seeing all the costumes and characters, but I think the ball needs an overhaul.

I have to agree about the ball,I paid the $40 then spent most of the time in the hallway do to the heat inside,I understand that MHC was not in control of the bar but the prcing was crazy(I bought a 6 pack from the gift shop and kept that with me),other than the ball I have to say I enjoyed every bit of the show(don't get me wrong the ball was fun but next year I think I will skip it,or just hang out in the hallway with everyone else)The fri. night bus tour was cool,I really enjoyed the trip to scarefactory. The seminars were pretty good but they kept switching times on me causing me to miss some I really wanted to attend. overall It was a very food timer and I would very much like to attend again next year

We are learning and next year will be better. Barry was great and we will be doing our best to fix any complaints and work on a great show..

My Wife and I had a great time the convention was awsome, the poor Knitting conventon bet they never expected anything like the haunters or the zombie parade.

The elevators at the Hyatt were a bit of a bottle neck at times and I agree although the Ball was great the $40 price tag was too high for the crowded little room it was in. I'm glad I don't drink alcohol because $2.50 for a small glass of pop is insane lucky there was a pop machine with 20oz's just outside for $1.50.

I really missed the hot rods and fancy cars circleing the building too something about monsters and fast cars just ask Herman and Grandpa

Thanks for all of the comments both good and bad! Each year is a learning process for us and changes are already in place for next year. Let me address a few of them:

Drink Prices - You are right, nothing we can do about that unless we were to negotiate cheaper prices and figure that into the cost of the party thereby raising prices even further. Not a realistic option.

Air Conditioning - It was on but we just too many people in there. We were a victim of our own success. This has already been corrected for 2009 by almost tripling the size of the room for the party. :)

Food - It was replenished throughout the night and we had some left when the party closed. We do schedule it to come out over the evening so you may have gone up there at a time when it was out. I will see what we can do about that.

DJ - We kinda dropped the ball on that as we did not get him a suggested playlist as he requested. That is another thing we will work harder on.

Cost - We will look at the numbers again but it is difficult to keep the costs down on an event like that. Between the food (several thousand dollars), DJ, prizes, room, etc... we try to keep the ticket price as low as we can.

There are some other changes that we will have for 2009 as well. We have a larger space for the Friday reception party which will be right next to the bus departure area. We also have changed halls/classrooms in the convention center to the area closest to the hotel so we will not have the loooonnnngggg walk.

Please let me know of any other suggestions or problems you saw as we want to make MHC everything you want it to be.
